Benton County celebrates unity and diversity in 2023 Hispanic Heritage Month with proclamation and gathering

Benton County recognized the importance of unity and diversity during 2023 Hispanic Heritage Month with a meaningful gathering and proclamation reading to honor Benton County employees and Latinx/Hispanic heritage on Oct. 3, at the Kalapuya Building in Corvallis. Benton County staff and local leaders from Casa Latinos Unidos came together to commemorate Hispanic America Heritage Month, September 15-October 15.

First-time Benton County event brings regional partners together to safeguard against flooding

Located in the heart of the Willamette River Basin, and with several watersheds flowing through the County, much of Benton County faces the threat of periodic flooding. Benton County Developmental Diversity Open House

The Benton County Developmental Diversity Program will hold an open house event on Friday, October 20, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Benton County Sunset Building at 4077 SW Research Way in Corvallis. Benton County Announces Request for Proposals for Sustainable Material Management Plan

Benton County is inviting qualified firms throughout Oregon, nationally, and internationally to submit proposals for the development of a Sustainable Materials Management Plan. This initiative aims to comprehensively address the environmental impact of materials throughout their entire lifecycle, necessitating collaboration across jurisdictional and geographical boundaries.

“Key elements of the plan include extensive community engagement, analyses, and recommendations to address material lifecycle impacts, and strategies for funding and administration,” said Benton County Community Development Solid Waste & Water Quality Program Coordinator Daniel Reddick. “The specific scope of work will be determined in collaboration with the selected proposer during the initial phase of plan development.”

The primary objective is to engage a firm to create a local/regional Sustainable Materials Management Plan for Benton County.

Responses to the RFP will undergo a rigorous review process, scored, and ranked based on defined criteria within the solicitation document.

Following registration, participants will receive a confirmation email with instructions on joining the virtual meeting.

September is National Preparedness Month, Benton County urges preparedness as disasters become more frequent

With the surge in wildfires, floods, extreme heat, powerful winds, and winter storms, the importance of readiness has never been more evident. These natural occurrences, intensified by the ongoing effects of climate change, underscore the urgency of emergency preparedness. In observance of National Preparedness Month this September, the Benton County community is urged to empower themselves with the knowledge and resources to effectively confront emergencies and disasters.
