In a move to enhance passenger convenience and efficiency, Benton Area Transit (BAT) is gearing up for a major software upgrade. The current dispatching software, which has been in use for nearly two decades, is approaching the end of its support cycle. To ensure uninterrupted service, BAT is excited to introduce a new, modern dispatch software system.

One of the standout features of this modernization effort is the introduction of a user-friendly phone app.

“With this optional app, passengers now have the power to schedule their own rides, giving them greater flexibility and control over their transportation needs,” said Benton County Public Works Director Gary Stockhoff.

BAT’s dispatch office will continue to be accessible via phone at 541-766-6700, providing the same reliable service as before.

In addition to the new app and traditional phone booking, passengers can now expect helpful reminder calls leading up to their scheduled rides. These reminders can easily be customized to fit individual preferences, with the option to switch to text messages or opt out of reminders entirely.

The transition to the new dispatch software is set to take place toward the end of this month, September 2023. During this period, BAT services will remain unchanged. BAT is dedicated to ensuring a seamless shift for its passengers and is ready to address any questions or concerns.

“Benton Area Transit is excited to usher in this new era of convenience and accessibility for its passengers. We look forward to continuing to serve the Benton County community with enhanced services and a modernized approach to transportation,” Stockhoff said.
