Timeline overview

2015: Bond measure 2-91 is defeated (forty seven percent in favor). Board of Commissioners request comprehensive study of the County’s justice system.

2017: Board of Commissioners post a Justice System Master Plan Request for Qualifications. CGL is selected to conduct a four-phased approach to study the County’s justice system.

2018: Board of Commissioners approve funding for comprehensive assessment. Community forums and workshops are held.

2019: CGL presents comprehensive assessment of the County’s justice system to the Board of Commissioners. More than forty sites are reviewed for the future location of safety and justice operations.

2020: DLR Group begins conceptual predesigns. Justice and safety advisory committees are formed.

2021: DLR Group finalizes and presents conceptual designs to Board of Commissioners. Benton County receives state matching grant for new courthouse. Community sessions are held.

2022: Community sessions report is completed. Safety and justice site is selected. DLR is selected to design new courthouse. Site master plan completed for safety and justice operations. Community Safety Forums are held and a survey is conducted. Board of Commissioners approve funding for new Courthouse and District Attorney’s Office.

2023: Bond measure package is finalized. Community open house events are held. Bond measure 2-140 is defeated (forty two percent in favor). Post election survey is conducted. Budget update provided on courthouse, timeline extended.

2024: Post election survey results and report presented to Board of Commissioners. Construction on Courthouse and District Attorney’s Office begin.
