Greenhouse Gas Inventory

Benton County monitors the greenhouse gases (GHGs) emitted by County operations. GHGs are measured in metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MTCO2E). Currently, the County calculates GHGs from its use of electricity, natural gas, fleet fuel and water, as well as GHGs generated from waste and County employees’ commute to and from work. Taken together, these form the inventory of the County’s GHG emissions. The GHG Inventory is used to determine and measure progress towards our emission reduction goal and help staff prioritize actions in the Climate Action Plan.
