Many opportunities exist for Benton County residents interested in volunteering to serve our community by being an active member in Benton County’s advisory boards and committees. Applications are held for one year. Many members’ terms end in June or December, at which time vacancies often occur. Advertisements appear on the website and in local newspapers for vacant positions in the fall and in the spring. If there are no current vacancies, applications are held for one year.
Due to the policy of maximum citizen involvement, persons shall only serve on one committee at a time, unless the position requires service on another committee concurrently.
After submitting your application, an informal fifteen-minute interview is arranged between you and the three commissioners. The commissioners then select new members and confirm their choices at a regular Board of Commissioner public meeting. The full process can take several weeks. All applicants are notified by mail.
