September is National Preparedness Month, Benton County urges preparedness as disasters become more frequent

With the surge in wildfires, floods, extreme heat, powerful winds, and winter storms, the importance of readiness has never been more evident. These natural occurrences, intensified by the ongoing effects of climate change, underscore the urgency of emergency preparedness. In observance of National Preparedness Month this September, the Benton County community is urged to empower themselves with the knowledge and resources to effectively confront emergencies and disasters.

Road closure notification in Philomath: Chapel Drive and South 19th Street

July 28, 2023

The intersection of Chapel Drive and South 19th Street in Philomath will experience a temporary closure to through traffic, scheduled on August 5 – 20, 2023, 24-hours a day. The closure will be in effect for Chapel Drive from South 16th Street to Bellfountain Road. Access for local residents will be maintained, however, the intersection of South 19th Street and Chapel Drive will NOT be passable.

To navigate around the closure, detour routes have been designated via the following roads: Fern Road, Airport Road and Bellfountain Road.

Benton County Public Works appreciates the driving public’s patience during this essential road maintenance work.
